Altars
SUKYO MAHIKARI ALTARS
Ancestor Altars
and Altars for an individual
or a training place are designed based on the client’s desires. They are
intended for those people receiving God’s Light through the practice of Sukyo Mahikari.
These altars, much like Shaker items I build, have simplicity of lines,
are built with great internal strength, and have a specific purpose.
God’s plan is focused on people working together to establish a civilization
where people’s faith in God manifests their desire to live in harmony
with nature and other people.
As a furniture maker I approach Altar design and construction mindful of the
requirements of maintaining harmony with nature and with the knowledge that
the process that provides the craftsman a religious experience. Forces can
combine to work against the craftsman who is working to finish a harmonious
Altar. Constructing an Altar requires t hat
the craftsman’s attention be placed on that item alone. The components
must be brought together and assembled with respect
while constantly striving to maintain continuity of component parts
to insure beauty and strength.
Wood
selection, strength of construction, hand finishing, and design insure the
finished Altar will serve for generations.
